To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the popular sitcom “Happy Days,” Henry Winkler and Ron Howard had an incredible reunion at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
During Sunday’s awards ceremony, Howard, 70, and Winkler, 78, presented the best director of a comedy series award while performing on a set that honored the series’ iconic Arnold’s Drive-In, complete with a vintage jukebox.
“This is amazing,” Richie Cunningham’s actor Howard expressed amazement while Winkler, who played Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli, said, “Feels like home.”
Howard made fun of the fact that their theme song wasn’t played during their introduction and then pushed Winkler to imitate Fonzie’s hallmark move of pounding on the jukebox until it started playing.
The former cast member of “Barry” said, “I’m out of practice,” but Howard urged him to give it a shot.
Henry, you attended Yale School of Drama! You know you can succeed, Howard pleaded.
After giving a Fonzie-esque shrug, Winkler bumped the machine, causing the “Happy Days” theme tune to start playing.
“Excellent work,” Howard remarked as the assembly burst into cheers.
After making its debut in 1974, the sitcom on ABC continued for 11 seasons. The group featured Tom Bosley, Marion Ross, Erin Moran, Scott Baio, and Anson Williams in addition to Howard and Winkler.
