Stunned by negligence by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) of her parents’ homeland during the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, Annette Echikunwoke switched back to her country to achieve glory four years later. Her fortunes contrast with that of her former country colleague, Favour Ofili, who suffered from the same AFN negligence but, unlike Echikunwoke, stuck with Nigeria for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
