Woman Dies In Head-On Collision But When They Took Her Phone And Saw Her Facebook Page They Were Speechless

A woman lost her life in a head-on collision on a US highway shortly after updating her Facebook status and posting selfies.

Courtney Sanford, 32, posted on Facebook at 8:33 a.m. Thursday, “The happy song makes me so HAPPY.” Police were alerted to the crash at 8:34 a.m. Ms. Sanford’s car crossed the center reservation, hit a recycling truck, and caught fire. The truck was forced off the road.

Ms. Sanford was driving on Interstate 85 in North Carolina on her way to work. Police confirmed that speed, drugs, or alcohol were not factors in the crash. The Facebook post wasn’t revealed until the weekend when friends noticed the timing of her updates.

Lt. Chris Weisner of the High Point Police Department said the collision was a real-life warning about the dangers of texting and driving. “In a matter of seconds, a life was over just so she could notify some friends that she was happy. It’s really not worth it,” he stated.

John Wallace Thompson, 73, the truck driver, was unharmed.
