It is a question that has mystified humanity since the dawn of time; What happens when we die?
Well, one man claims to have seen the other side after a terrible illness left him visiting the “afterlife”.

David Hanzel, a 58-year-old man from North Carolina, believes he has peeked behind the celestial curtain during a near-death experience – and what he saw is stirring conversations and raising eyebrows.
David’s brush with the afterlife occurred in 2015 while he was in the hospital fighting a severe lung infection and sepsis.
“When they took me in, they had to do surgery. I had 70 percent of my lung covered in infection and I had sepsis – it was running all through my body,” David recalled to The Daily Star.
David says the illness caused him to flatline, before falling into a two-month-long coma. “I didn’t even know I was dead, I didn’t, I had no conception,” he added.
Although David identifies as an “extremely psychic person,” even he was stunned by what unfolded next. As he found himself on the brink of passing, he claims to have encountered a “beautiful afterlife.”
“I just remember closing my eyes because I was sick. And then when I opened my eyes back up, I was in this night sky. It was the most beautiful, velvety, silky night sky. No clouds. No stars. No nothing. And there wasn’t a beginning or end to it,” he described.
It seems the journey didn’t stop there. David says he was escorted by two spiritual entities.
“All of a sudden one being was on my left and one on my right. They just felt comfortable. Like I knew them,” he revealed.
Where did these beings lead him? Shockingly, to a bar-like setting.
“They put me in almost like a bar. It had these beautiful colored bottles on the side. No alcohol or nothing,” he said, adding that he found himself in a marble building where walking felt like floating due to an absence of gravity.
When David woke up from his coma, he felt healed and enlightened. “I came back with total forgiveness for everybody who’s ever done anything bad to me,” he professed.
Now an active presence on social media, particularly TikTok, he dedicates himself to teaching spirituality and answering questions about the afterlife.
According to David’s website, his near-death experience has inspired him to “spend his life in service to Spirit.” His mission is to help people understand the possibilities of life after death, guided by spiritual entities and loved ones who have crossed over.
With so many pondering the mysteries of what lies beyond, David’s account adds a new, intriguing layer to our collective conversations about life, death, and what might await us in the hereafter.
